Oracle customers spend significant time trying to reduce annual support costs. Eventually they realise that many savings are beyond reach due to limitations in Oracle’s Technical Support Policies These policies are part of the annual support renewal contracts, and contractually binding. Matching Service Levels
You may not support a subset of licenses within a license set; the license set must be reduced by terminating any unsupported licenses.
License Set
A license set consists of all of your licenses of a program, including any options licensed for such programs.
Pricing following Reduction of Licenses or Support Level
Pricing for support is based upon the level of support and the volume of licenses for which support is ordered. In the event that a subset of licenses on a single order is terminated or if the level of support is reduced, support for the remaining licenses on that license order will be priced at Oracle’s list price for support in effect at the time of termination or reduction minus the applicable standard discount.

Data collection and analysis
During the data collection phase, the client is requested to supply collected data in accordance with the instructions provided by License Consulting. This information will be used to determine the scope and savings model to be implemented.
Company assessment
The Company Assessment phase adds context to the data:
- Explanation as to why and how previous reduction attempts were made by the client;
- Clarifications about any under- or non-utilization of supported Oracle products;
- Information about the future Oracle roadmap, outlining if utilization volumes of specific Oracle products are expected to change in the near future.
FEasibility Assessment
Following the previous steps, License Consulting determines if savings can be implemented and provide a range of savings that are anticipated to incur in the upcoming renewal cycle, as well as the next consecutive 2 years. The range of savings is documented in an assessment report and presentation.
License Set
A license set consists of all of your licenses of a program, including any options licensed for such programs.
Oracle support savings implementation
Commencing the Feasibility Assessment, a plan is presented to outline, discuss, agree and implement the Oracle support savings strategy. With the client, the tactics and strategies are discussed, focusing on roles, responsibilities, and timelines.
