Gathering all pre-existing evidence of current Java Deployments by means of existing tools (network monitoring, asset management tools) the client has deployed (such as Flexera, Snow, BDNA, SCCM etcetera).

By using a step by step process we identify which individuals and applications make use of the Oracle Java installations reported, all of which leads to discussing potential optimizations that could be made within the scale of reported best & worst case scenarios.

Understand the background of the licensing changes, and what the implications are from changing from OPLv2 to BCL and OTN licenses for different Java versions.

Become aware of ‘untold’ stories, which illustrate the weak areas of Oracle’s licensing model. Throughout the workshop, the client’s deployment report is used as a basis for reference to illustrate these key areas.

Discuss any risks and opportunities identified during the project. Model any proposed changes to understand impact on license demand and potential risk reductions. Support client in developing plans to implement proposed changes . Recalculate effective license position (ELP) for actionable changes.

We will provide the client with template collateral material, which is customized with information that is collected during the project. The collateral can be used for corresponding with Oracle, if necessary, with the purpose to position itself better for any sales or audit discussions that your organisation is confronted with.
